Peru

I want to write about Peru. The reason why I chose Peru is that I have been interested in Machu Picchu in Peru since I was a child. Machu Picchu is the remains of an ancient city. It is still wrapped in a lot of mystery. I am attracted on that point.

Peru is a country on the west coast of south America. It borders on 5 countries, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia and Chile. The land is at the south latitude 18 degrees and has a variety of terrains Therefore, various climates exist in one country such as the rainless dry desert, Andes peaks at an altitude of 6,000 high and dense forest covered with jungle in the Amazon basin. The population is about 23,530,000. And the area is about 1,285,000 kilometers. It is approximately 3.4 times that of Japan. The capital is Lima.

The folk costumes of Peru are very colorful. I include a picture of the costume. An Alpaca is in the picture. It is an animal from South America and looks like a llama. People living in Peru made clothes, gloves, socks and so on from the wool of alpaca.

I think that the most famous dish in Peru is "cebiche". It is a dish of marinade dressed fresh fish and shellfish and onion in lemon. Another dish is "amos con mariscos". It is a dish mixed various fish and shellfish and rice. Japanese probably like the dish.

Next, I want to write about Machu Picchu! Machu Picchu is located in the mountains of the valley URUBANBA. Many sharp-pointed mountain cliffs tower up above. And Machu Picchu is at an altitude of 2,280m. Machu Picchu means "old peak". And it is also called "air city". That is because people couldn't see the city from the foot of the mountain. It is said that the city was made in order to escape from the Spanish, and also in order to elaborate strategies for revenge against Spanish by people living in the Inca era. Its total area is about 5 kilometers, and terraced fields spread out on about half of it. And shrines, palaces and domiciles are in the west of it. Additionally, they are enclosed within walls. We can know that a very high civilization flourished in Machu Picchu. In the middle of the 16th century, people left Machu Picchu After that, Machu Picchu was not seen by people for 400 years. Hiramu Bingamu, an American historical scientist, found Machu Picchu on 1911. Machu Picchu lay in ruins and was covered with grass. Mysteries in Machu Picchu have not been solved yet. For example stones framed the city. How did people pile them? They were strong enough that we can't insert even a razor into them! And, how did they carry huge stones to an altitude of 2,280m? Those skills have not been known.

I got a lot of discoveries in Machu Picchu this time. My interest deepened more. I think I want to go to Machu Picchu someday and see Machu Picchu with my own eyes!! (504words)
